There will be a 'National open double song competition' with a prize of 6 lakhs

Kathmandu. On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Nepali folk song star Kalyan Sherchan, the 'National Open Duet Song Competition' will be held in Pokhara from July 12th. On the occasion of Sherchan's 76th birth anniversary, a three-day double song competition is going to be held at the Pokhara Auditorium.

The organizer, Kalyan Sherchan Memorial Foundation, organized a press meet program at the studio of the 'Indrani' program in Kathmandu on Thursday and informed that Mofasal is going to hold the competition with the highest prize money so far. The president of the foundation Captain Purna Bahadur Gurung 'Hyolmo' informed at the press conference that the competition was going to be held with the main objective of establishing a statue of the late Sherchan in Pokhara.

According to the Kalyan Sherchan Memorial Foundation, the first group in the competition will receive a cash prize of 6 lakhs. The second, third and consolation groups will be awarded cash prizes of Rs 4 lakh, Rs 2 lakh and Rs 1 lakh respectively. In the program, it was informed that the best singer-singer will be awarded 50,000 rupees and 50,000 rupees will be awarded to the disciplined group.

He said that preparations for the competition have been rapidly advanced and it is estimated that 40 to 50 groups will participate in the competition. Dahal informed that there will be two groups of two people, one woman and one man, for the registration of the group.

There is no entry fee for the competition. Organizers expect 5.5 million income and 3.9 million rupees to be spent on the tournament. According to Kalyan Sherchan Memorial Foundation, a statue of the late Sherchan will be installed from the savings.
