Kathmandu. An interesting evening-level competition, "National Dohori song Idol—2082," is being organized by the Cultural Society Nepal. The first phase of the Dohori Idol, Dohori Song Competition Premier League, which will be held at the Rastriya Nachghar Jamal on Jestha 26, 27, and 28, was also announced by the program coordinator, Chandra Sharma.
Giving information about the program, Sharma said that only one singer per evening will be allowed to participate in the doubles competition. Coordinator Sharma said that the tradition of participants singing only wearing Daura Suruwal will be abolished and participants will be allowed to sing in tie-suits as well.
The main sponsor of the program is the BBTM Foundation. Coordinator Sharma said that the final program will be held in Nagarkot and that Changunarayan Municipality has made all the arrangements for it. The winner of the National Dohori Song Idol will receive 33,333 in cash and a motorcycle, while the runner-up will receive 22,222 in cash and a scooter.
Senior singer Nanda Krishna Joshi delivered a congratulatory speech at the program organized under the chairmanship of Ram Prasad Awasthi, president of Cultural Society Nepal. Talking about the art sector, he said that organizing the National Dohori Song Idol was a great initiative. Singer Joshi said that the songs sung by the Dohori singers would clarify what many leaders have been debating for years.
The program was attended by Krishna Reule, Vice President of the National Folk and Dohori Song Academy of Nepal; senior journalist Dabbu Chhetri; and others. The program was hosted by singer Amrit Khati.
