Kathmandu. As the festival approaches, the influx of travelers leaving the valley has already started to increase. In previous years, there would only be a rush of travelers leaving the valley from the day of Ghatasthapana, but this year, passengers have started to head towards their destinations even before Ghatasthapana.
Saroj Sitoula, the senior vice president of the Nepal Transport Business Federation, stated that approximately four hundred thousand passengers have left the valley in the last three days. He mentioned that service providers are fully prepared as the number of passengers increases.Similarly, the federation's president, Vijay Bahadur Swarn, expressed a commitment to focus on service delivery without increasing fares, even considering the current difficult circumstances. According to him, a system has been arranged to issue tickets based on the availability of vehicles rather than an advance ticketing system.
Meanwhile, the Department of Transport Management has stated that necessary preparations have been made for the safe and comfortable movement of passengers targeting the festivals. In a discussion with transport entrepreneurs and stakeholders at the department on Tuesday, Director General Rajeev Pokhrel informed that arrangements like dozers will be made in collaboration with the road department to maintain good governance in the road sector and to prevent obstruction. He also mentioned that passenger assistance desks and fare rate boards will be placed at various locations to make the fare rates transparent.
