Kathmandu. The Music Royalty Collection Society has a new working committee led by musician Suresh Adhikari. Adhikari has taken the leadership for the fifth time since the 8th convention held at the Nepal Academy on Falgun 30. While the provision is that new leadership is selected only through the general assembly and convention in each term, this time he has come directly from the office to the chairman unopposed.
Along with the chairman, two lyricists, Chandra Sharma and Pramod Dhungana, and two music composers PN Sapkota and Prasad Lamichhane, from the old working committee came from the office unopposed. After that, 10 candidates each were nominated for the positions of 3 lyricists and 3 music composers. Accordingly, the lyricists were Sujan Lamsal, Dr. Om Krishna Prasai, Bal Kumar Shrestha, Bimal Adhikari, Ramesh Pariyar, Naresh Khati, Binod Dhakal, Karun Thapa, Prakash Parajuli, and Basant Kumar Khatri. Sujan Lamsal, Ramesh Pariyar, and Naresh Khati were elected from a vote of ten.
Similarly, the candidates for the post of music composer were Dolraj Bahraghare, Arjun Thapa, Ashta Bahadur Lama, Rajesh Thapa Magar, Rajendra Bajgain, Gaurav Darpan, Shankar Thapa, Deepak Sharma, Roshan Singh, and Ashish Abiral. Out of these ten candidates, Dolraj Bahraghare, Arjun Thapa, and Gaurav Darpan were elected.
As there were no objections to the candidacy submitted on Falgun 29, efforts to reach a consensus continued until 11 pm on the day of the convention. Six candidates withdrew their candidacies in the effort to reach a consensus. Later, the election process began between 4 people for 3/3. In the midnight voting in the royalty society, which has 1,941 members, a total of 74 votes were cast. Ultimately, 3/3 members were selected through elections, as there was no consensus.
Although many creators raised their voices in the closed session of the convention, claiming that the loss of crores of rupees was accounted for, the protestors have had to stay outside the committee. Every year, despite the accounts being searched in the closed session, claiming that there was a scam in the creators' royalties, no one seems to have dared to go to the office and find the accounts.
