Kathmandu. Renowned folk and duet singer Rajkumar Rayamajhi has resounded at the National Theatre on Friday through a musical evening. Rayamajhi gave his performance at the “Rajkumar Rayamajhi Musical Evening-2082” and the extensive Agraj Shrestha Samman program organized by NRN Media at the National Theatre in Jamal, Kathmandu last Friday. Rayamajhi, who has established his identity through more than three dozen folk and duet songs, has spent two decades (from 15th of July 2062 to date) in the same organization, Lalitpur Duet Club, continuously working on preserving folk music through singing and entrepreneurial art for 20 years.
With the aim of setting a world record for the contribution made by Rayamajhi in the preservation and preservation of folk music, Rayamajhi gave 7 different musical performances at the Agraj Shrestha Samman and solo musical evening and genre-based honor program organized under the chief guestship of former Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Khilraj Regmi.
In the category-based honor program held along with Rayamajhi's musical performance, senior comedian and singer Madan Krishna Shrestha, senior folk and duet singer, musician and film director Narayan Rayamajhi, senior singer and producer Bam Bahadur Karki, senior singer and producer Khadga Garvuja, and senior musician Suresh Adhikari were honored with the Senior Composer Award.
Similarly, singer and first Dohori Sanjh host Devi Hamal and conductor Mukt Gurung, first Dohori Sanjh singer Badri Parajuli, and Krishna Kandel, chairman of the popular program Indreni Cultural Development Center, a famous singer, and social worker, have been specially honored.
On the same occasion, more than four dozen individuals who have made unparalleled contributions to society in various fields and genres, representatives of various organizations, and more than three dozen journalists and media personnel working in various media houses were also honored in recognition of their contributions to society through journalism.
Born in Telgha, Palpa, to fathers Yam Bahadur Rayamajhi and Tulsadevi Rayamajhi, Rayamajhi spent his childhood in Murgiya, Rupandehi.
Rayamajhi, who entered folk music at the age of sixteen, passed the voice test from Radio Nepal in 2065 BS and won the Best Dohori Sanjh Singer award from the Highlights Lok Dohari Awards in 2069 BS. Rayamajhi has released more than three dozen songs so far.
His popular songs like ‘Jali Maya, Gham Lage Ghamaylo, Auntha Chaap, Tinau Khola Bagda Cha Salal, Balaun Aarti, Nacherai Viratal Huna Ho, Kampus Dhauenele’ have succeeded in staying in the hearts of the general audience.
Rayamajhi, who has spent a significant part of his life in the preservation and promotion of Nepali original songs and music, has been continuously contributing to the preservation of folk songs and music through various programs on radio and television since the beginning, and says that he will continue to do so in the coming days as well.
Rayamajhi, who is also the central joint secretary and media coordinator of the National Folk Dohori Geet Pratishthan, is also the producer and presenter of the popular program Lok Srijana on Nepali Radio Network and Radio NRN, the largest radio network in Nepal. He has so far been conducting programs on Nepal Television, NTV Plus, TV Today, Abhiyan Television, Manaslu Television, HBC FM, Radio Upatyaka, Radio Rajdhani, and currently on Nepali Radio Network, Radio NRN, and Radio Malamala. He has also been responsible for editing and management on Manaslu Television and various other online televisions and magazines.
Active in the social sector along with folk songs, music and media, Rayamajhi is the central general secretary of the Kidney Victims Concern Society Nepal and is also affiliated with dozens of other social organizations. Since childhood, Rayamajhi, who has a friendly and social and supportive nature, has made an incomparable contribution to the social sector and media, along with folk songs and music. The chief guest of the program, Regmi, also said that Rayamajhi's contribution deserves to be praised not only in the world record but also from a higher level. Regmi also emphasized that the state should also protect and promote its originality by considering the contributions of creators and artists like Rayamajhi and further encouraging them.
Program chairman and NRN Media chairman Amrit Adhikari said that the process will soon be initiated to register the program and Rayamajhi's contribution in the Guinness Book of World Records.
The program, held at the National Dance Hall, was coordinated by Manaslu Post Chairman Man Bahadur Pun and hosted by renowned comedian Dinesh Kafle, under the coordination and facilitation of journalist and presenter Tilak Poudel.
