New York. Singer Ramji Khand and singer Sunita Dulal were declared the best singers at the First Top Shop Kathmandu 8848 Music and Film Awards 2025 USA held in New York, USA. Singer Ramji Khand won the award for the song Bandipure Soltini, while singer Sunita Dulal won the award for the song Nabol Aru Sanga.
Music legend Shambhujit Baskota and pop king Om Bikram Bista were honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 8848 Music and Film Awards. Singer Rajesh Hamal, one of the organizers, informed us that the Lifetime Achievement Award, along with $1,000, was presented to him for his continuous contribution to the music industry for five decades.
The organizers of the 8848 Music and Film Awards were Rajesh Hamal, Etna Karki, and Nischal Waiba from Revel Events; Pashupati Shrestha from Buddha Tax Accounting; and Lakesh Shrestha and Sajna Maharjan from Satisal International LLC. The program began with the American and Nepali national anthems and featured performances by Dipesh Kishore Bhattarai, Madan Singh Nepali, Mohan Bhusal, Rima Gurung Hoda, Malika Karki, Santosh Lama, Anish (Oakali), and Sashi Rawal.
Director Shankar Ghimire won the Best Director award for the film Tel Visa at the 8848 Music and Film Awards. Similarly, actress Richa Ghimire was declared the Best Supporting Actress for Tel Visa, while Anjay Khadka won the Best Film Editing award. Similarly, actress Niti Shah won the Best New Actress award for Juwai Saheb, while Prashant Tamrakar won the Best Actor award for the film Hraswa Dirgha. They were presented with the award by superstar Rajesh Hamal.
At the 8848 Music and Film Awards, the film Purna Bahadur Ko Sarangi was declared the blockbuster film of the year and won awards in four categories, while actor Bijay Baral was named best actor. Music composer and singer Ashish Abiral became the best playback singer from the song "Raiya Chandi ko" from the movie "Purna Ko Bahadur Sarangi," and Prashant Shiwakoti became the best music composer. Kedar Ghimire won the Best Comedian award for the movie Chhakkapanja 5, while actress Swastima Khadka won the Best Actress award for the movie Behuli from Meghauli. Purushottam Pradhan won the Best Cinematographer award for the film Mahajatra, while the film Shambhala won the Best Feature Film award.
While Sameer Bhatta won the award for Best Newcomer for the movie Bahragaun, singer Samiksha Adhikari won the award for Best Playback Singer for the movie Boksiko Ghar. Actor Aryan Sigdel won the award for Best Supporting Actor for the movie Pujar Sarki, while Dayahang Rai won the award for Popular Actor of the Year, and Popular Movie Song RukuMaikot won the award.
Similarly, Ashra Kunwar and Nitesh Jung Kunwar won the Best Duet Award for the song "Itihasa Timro Mero" in the music category at the 8848 Music and Film Awards. Best Singer Sushant KC (Bardali) and Best Singer Tirsana Gurung (Naam Ke Ho Bhon) were successful in winning the award.
Similarly, Babukrishna Pariyar won the award for Best Folk Dohori from Kashmire Pachhauri, Khem Century won the award for Best Folk Dohori Duet, and Deepika Bayambu won the award for the song Mayalai Panko Pat. Popular music video choreographer Rahul Shah won the award for the song Aago Laidinchhu. Durgesh Thapa's "Dushman Herako Herai" became the most popular song of the year, while Gbob became the best rapper with the rap song "Chilmama."
While the song "Bardali" won the popular music video, Subrata Raj Acharya managed to win the Best Music Video Director award for "Kunai Din." Shantarani Pariyar won the award for Best Female Singer for "Ma Ta Dhale Dhale," while popular music video model Akesha Bista won the award for "Timilai" for the song. Popular music video editor Krishna Bhandari (I'm Alone) and popular music video cinematographer Rupesh Thapa (Looking at the Enemy) were named the best.
Similarly, filmmakers Nawaraj Shrestha, Jubilee Sherpa, and custom designer Shambhu Puri were honored with the Special Contribution Award, while lyricist Rabikiran Adhikari was presented with the Jury Award for Lyricist.
Artists, musicians, and filmmakers were honored at the event. The honorees are singer Prakash Gurung, singer-musician Madan Singh Nepali, singer Prakash Shrestha, director Narayan Puri, actor Sushil Chhetri, actress Pooja Chand, singer Ram Shrestha, singer Bima Kumari Dura, photographer Rajiv Shrestha, singer Sapna Pariyar, musician Rajendra Karna, and musician Nhuchhe Dangol.
Similarly, the golden stars of Nepali music abroad were also honored, including Raju Lama (Angel Band), Dipesh Kishore Bhattarai, James Pradhan, Sanjeev Pradhan, Rima Gurung Hoda, Hari Karmacharya, Tilak Bam Malla, Anish Oakali, and Mohan Bhusal.
