Poet and Lyricist Uma Shrestha Unveils Poetry Collection Silent Is the Nation and Two New Songs

Kathmandu: Poet and lyricist Uma Shrestha has officially launched her debut poetry collection, Silent Is the Nation (Maun Chha Desh), along with the music videos of two new songs at a special ceremony held in Kathmandu.

The event was organized by Bride Academy & Media Pvt. Ltd. under the chairmanship of Shrestha's mother, Dilmaya Shrestha, with renowned poet and lyricist Chudamani Devkota serving as the chief guest.

Welcoming the guests, Pratima Rai, Chairperson of the organizing institution, highlighted the importance of promoting literature and music, while lyricist and journalist Suman Pandit hosted the program.

Reviewing the poetry collection, literary critic Dr. Shailendu Prakash Nepal praised Silent Is the Nation for its powerful expression of women's emotions, patriotism, love, and social realities. He described Uma Shrestha as a multi-talented creative personality who has excelled not only in poetry but also in songwriting, singing, and music composition.

Speaking at the event, Uma Shrestha shared her journey as a poet and songwriter, expressing her joy at launching her first poetry collection under the chairmanship of her mother. She credited her family's unwavering support as a major source of inspiration and became emotional while reflecting on her creative journey.

President of the Film Directors' Society, Arun Pradhan, praised Shrestha's literary and musical works, stating that her creations had deeply impressed him. Similarly, Basant Bityasi Thapa, President of the Lyricists' Association Nepal, said Shrestha's writings beautifully reflect patriotism, social consciousness, and women's experiences, expressing confidence in her continued success in music as well.

Chief guest Chudamani Devkota congratulated Shrestha, describing her decision to dedicate herself to literature and music as the beginning of a meaningful and enduring creative journey.

Program coordinator and President of the Aitamaya Thebe Memorial Foundation, Arjun Thebe, expressed happiness at witnessing his wife Uma Shrestha's literary milestone. He noted that the poetry collection captures experiences from professional life, social realities, and Nepal's past and present.

The event also celebrated the birthday of Aditya Thebe, the son of Uma Shrestha and Arjun Thebe, with a cake-cutting ceremony.

Among the newly released songs, the Teej festive number "Nachau Chhamchhami" features vocals by Uma Shrestha and Sumit Khadka, with lyrics and music composed by Bipin Acharya.

The second song, "Ae Maya Laauchhau Ki", features lyrics, music, and vocals by Uma Shrestha, with Sumit Khadka joining her as a co-singer. Both music videos have been released through Uma Shrestha's official YouTube channel.
