Kathmandu: The Teej song ‘Mwaikhāndai’, featuring the melodious voices of popular folk singer and Dohori Champion winner Prakash Parajuli and renowned folk singer Devi Gharti Magar, has been released along with its music video.
Unlike the flashy and purely entertaining Teej songs commonly released during the festival season, Mwaikhāndai takes a different approach. The song poignantly portrays the real-life struggles, family-related pain, and resilience faced by women in Nepali society.
Written and composed by Prakash Parajuli, the song expresses the emotions and pain of a married daughter as she returns to her maternal home and shares her feelings with her mother. The lyrics reveal the hidden emotional suffering and endurance of women behind what may appear to be a happy married life from the outside.
Krishna KC has arranged the music, while Khadak Bajurali handled the mixing. Recorded at Malashree Studio, the song features a strong and melodious audio production.
Another major attraction of Mwaikhāndai is its music video, in which singer Prakash Parajuli himself stars alongside his wife, Preeya Adhikari, in the lead roles. Artist Hiunwala Gautam also delivers a powerful performance in the video. The natural and heartfelt acting of the Parajuli couple plays a significant role in conveying the emotions of the song to the audience.
Featuring compelling visuals and strong direction, the music video has been directed and choreographed by Jerry Bhandari. Pawan Susling is the cinematographer, while Sujan Koirala handled the editing.
The video has been produced by Manjari Creation Pvt. Ltd. and released through Prakash Parajuli’s official YouTube channel.
