Legendary Singer Mira Rana to Perform in Her Final Solo Musical Evening

Kathmandu: Renowned singer and musician Mira Rana is set to perform what she describes as the final solo musical evening of her life. The ‘Mira Rana Solo Musical Evening’ will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026 (Ashwin 4, 2083) at Nepal Academy in Kamaladi, Kathmandu.

The 75-year-old singer is a cancer survivor who successfully battled the disease. She later lost her husband, Uday Jung Rana, to cancer. Following her personal experience with the disease, she established the Mira Rana Cancer Society to support cancer patients.

Rana said the musical evening is being organized as her final major performance with the aim of raising funds for the society and using the proceeds to support people affected by cancer.

The event will feature around two dozen popular songs sung or composed by Rana, performed by various singers in their own styles. Artists including Shambhujeet Baskota, Rambhakta Jojiju, Kapil Lohani, Krishnagopal Shrestha, Yogendra Upadhyaya, Chhiring Bhutia, cancer survivors Tara Thapa and Sangeeta Thapa Shakya, Nisha Deshar, Rupi Singh, Mandavi Tripathi, Sabina Karki, Itu Jojiju, Shital Thapa and Yunisha Deshar will perform.

Rana herself will also present some of her popular songs, with Manohar Sunam serving as the music conductor.

Among the highlights will be songs Rana performed with legendary singer Narayan Gopal, including Timi Deu Ya NadeuMero Jowan LaijauAankhaima Kasai Ko Tasbir Basechha and Baini Ko Daya Chha Bhane.

The program will also feature songs such as Nachdeu Maichyang and Sindhupalchok Jillama, performed with Shambhujeet Baskota, as well as Madal Ghanaghan Ghankaun Ki and Lek Phulyo Laligurans associated with Kumar Basnet.

Rana’s solo hits, including Makhamali Cholo ChahidainaMat Chadheko SanjhNashalu RaatMero Pauma AajaSamda SadashivaBirsiye Ra Maile FeriAajsamma Jasari Bachera Aayen and Mero Phullalai Basanta Bhayo, will also be performed.

The organizers said the musical evening will connect Rana’s remarkable musical journey with her personal battle against cancer, while also contributing to the support of cancer patients.
