Lalitpur Committee Wins First Place in 9th Institutional Teej Song Competition

Kathmandu: The Lalitpur Committee has won the first prize at the 9th Institutional Teej Song Competition–2083, organized by the National Folk and Dohori Song Academy, Valley Coordination Committee, New Buspark.

The Lalitpur Committee, under the leadership of singer Belimaya Pulami, secured the first position and received a cash prize of Rs. 30,000 along with a trophy.

Similarly, the Lazimpat Committee secured second place, winning a cash prize of Rs. 20,000 and a trophy, while the New Buspark Committee, the organizer of the competition, finished third and received Rs. 10,000 along with a trophy.

The 9th Institutional Teej Song Competition–2083 was held at Indreni Cultural Development Centre, Buddhanagar. The judging panel consisted of songwriter Subas KC, singer and songwriter Shiva Hamal, singer Juna Shree Magar, singer Purnakala BC, and singer Arjun Thapa.

According to Committee Chairperson Smriti Thapa Magar, the judges evaluated the participating teams based on various criteria, including word selection, storyline, vocal and musical presentation, costumes, discipline, and overall performance.

Chairperson Thapa said the Teej song competition has played an important role in fostering institutional harmony and mutual goodwill among artists, while also bringing artists together through a common cultural platform.
