Former President, Ministers and Lawmakers Attend Acclaimed Play Seto Dharti

Kathmandu: The critically acclaimed stage play Seto Dharti has completed 51 days of successful performances, prompting Kantipur Theatre to extend its run until August 1 (Shrawan 16) due to overwhelming audience demand.

Based on Madan Puraskar-winning novelist Amar Neupane's celebrated book, the play has been drawing packed audiences, with most shows running to full capacity, according to Kantipur Theatre CEO Prakash Puri.

Among the distinguished guests who recently attended the production are former President Bidya Devi Bhandari, former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, Prime Minister's spouse Sabina Kafle, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Bikram Timilsina, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Khadkaraj Paudel, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Shobhita Gautam, former ministers Hisila Yami, Surendra Pandey, Gokarna Bista, Bhanubhakta Dhakal, and lawmakers Ganesh Karki and Anushka Shrestha, among others.

Audience members have widely praised the play for its compelling story, powerful performances, and artistic presentation. The production is directed by Sundar Dhital and is being staged at Kantipur Theatre in Gairidhara, Kathmandu.

The play will continue until August 1, with performances every day except Wednesday at 4:15 p.m. and 7:15 p.m., along with an additional 1:15 p.m. show on public holidays. Ticket booking and performance schedules are available through the official Kantipur Theatre website.

Seto Dharti explores sensitive social issues such as child marriage, child widowhood, and women's identity and dignity in Nepali society. Its emotionally engaging narrative and strong performances have made it one of the most talked-about theatre productions of the season.
