The Kathmandu Valley Committee of National Folk Journalists Nepal has been formed. On Saturday, a 17-member new working committee was elected unopposed under the president, Anita Kumari Ghimire (Anu Arpan).
Premraj Lamichhane has been elected as the senior vice-chairman of the newly formed committee, Milan Khatri as the vice-chairman, Sanjay Pokharel as the secretary, Anita Purakoti as the joint-secretary, Rahul Thapa as the treasurer, and Suresh Pant as the joint-treasurer.
Similarly, Laxman Sharma, Bikash Thapa, Indrajit Poudel, Aakriti Acharya, Bikash Damase, Gopal Nepali, Chakra Prasad Pokharel, and Santosh Tamang were elected as working committee members. Prakash Bishwakarma has been elected as the secretary of the committee's publicity department, and Niroj Gautam has been elected as a member.
Election Officer Advocate Ramchandra Shrestha informed that the election was held unopposed for all the posts of the working committee.
National Folk Journalists Nepal Vice President Hari Dulal, Spokesperson Shikhar Gajarkote, and Head of Women's Department Sabita Pokharel congratulated the newly formed committee, urging it to further enhance the dignity of media workers.
Speaking about the formation of the committee, the organization's central president, Chandramani Gautam, said that the valley committee has been formed to promote original folk songs and music, expand the organization, and make local coordination effective.
He expressed confidence that this committee would play a role in enhancing coordination between media professionals and artists in the folk genre and collaborating with other stakeholders.
