Film Development Board to honor 25 highest-grossing films on its silver jubilee, announce National Film Day on Asoj 15

Kathmandu. The 6-decade history of Nepali cinema began with the movie 'Aama'. Hundreds of films have been released since the movie 'Aama'. But it has been 25 years since the Film Development Board was established. The Film Development Board organized a program in Kathmandu on the occasion of its silver jubilee. In which the 25 highest-grossing films in the past 25 years were honored.

Similarly, the poster of the first movie 'Aama' has been featured on a postal stamp. 'Aama' is the first Nepali film to be released in Asoj 2022. Directed by Hira Singh Khatri, this film starred Shiv Shankar Khatri and Bhuwan Chand. The Postal Service Department has issued two stamps of Rs. 10 each for the same film. In which the pictures of the hero and heroine of the movie 'Aama' are featured. A special design was provided on the first-day cover of the stamp.

Actresses Bhuwan Chand, Chaitya Devi, Basundhara Bhusal, Minister for Communications Prithvi Subba Gurung, Board Chairman Dinesh DC and Director General of the Department of Postal Services Manmaya Bhattarai Pangeni jointly participated in the ticket unveiling ceremony.

Similarly, the government has now announced that Asoj 15 will be celebrated as 'National Film Day' every year. Minister Gurung said at the ceremony that this announcement was made as per the decision taken by the Council of Ministers meeting held on Asad 13. Earlier, Asoj 1 was said to be celebrated as National Film Day. Now, on the recommendation of the Film Development Board, the Council of Ministers has decided to celebrate Asoj 15 as Film Day.

On the same occasion, the board had released two books titled Film Manch and Film Piyalo. The two books, edited by film journalist Shantipriya, include historical documents of the film industry.

25 highest grossing films

Recently, ‘Purna Bahadur’s Sarangi’ set a new record for grossing. The Film Development Board had made public the list of 25 films on the occasion of its 25th anniversary. Purna Bahadur’s Sarangi managed to come first in the same list. The film directed by Saroj Poudel managed to sell 1.7 million tickets and earned a total of 468.7 million 41 thousand rupees more.

Kabaddi Kabaddi-4 managed to come second. This film has earned 214 million more rupees. In third place, Biraj Bhatt’s 12 Gaon film has earned 199.2 million more. In fourth place, Deepak Raj Giri and Deepashree Niraula’s Chhakka Panja 4 has earned 175.3 million more.

The film ‘Jari’ remained in fifth place in terms of grossing. This film directed by Upendra Subba has earned 174.7 million more. In sixth place, Chhakka Panja 1 has earned 161 million more. In seventh place, the film Mahajatra directed by Pradeep Bhattarai has earned over Rs 156.7 million.

Chhakka Panja 5 has come in at number eight with an additional Rs 152 million. Shree Krishna Shrestha starrer Kohinoor has come in at number nine with an additional Rs 147.5 million. Chhakka Panja 2 has come in at number ten with an additional Rs 145.1 million. Similarly, Shatrugate has come in at number 11 with an additional Rs 126.5 million. Naveen Chauhan-directed film Oonko Sweater has come in at number 12 with an additional Rs 106.2 million.

Similarly, Kabaddi Kavaddi-2 movie has earned 10 crores 35 lakhs. Boksiko Ghar has come in at number 14 with an additional Rs 101 million. Cha Maya Chhapakkai has come in at number 15 with an additional Rs 99.2 million. Bimaj Kharab has come in at number 16 with an additional Rs 89.8 million. Similarly, Anjali has come in at number 17 with an additional Rs 88.3 million. Pardeshi 2 has come in at number 18 with an additional Rs 79.2 million. Similarly, Chhakka Panja 3 has managed to earn 78.3 million in 19th place.

Similarly, the movie Prem Geet-3 has earned 76.3 million more in 20th place. Similarly, it has earned 75.9 million more. At number 22 is Pujara Sarki, which has earned 73.8 million more.

At number 23, Mahapurush has managed to earn 73.5 million more, while the movie at number 24 has managed to earn 73.4 million more. Pashupati Prasad-2 (Bhashme Don) has managed to earn 73.2 million more and has registered its name at number 25th.
