Creators Pay Tribute to Bhote Koshi Flood Victims with Candlelight Vigil

Kathmandu. A collective memorial gathering was held under the coordination of the Literary Organizations Coordination Committee to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in the devastating flood that struck the Bhote Koshi area of Rasuwa on Bhadra 10.

Representatives of various literary organizations and creators gathered along the banks of the Bagmati River in front of the Guhyeshwari Temple in the Pashupatinath area, where they lit lamps and candles to commemorate the flood victims on the 13th day of their passing.

At the memorial ceremony, Coordinator of the Literary Organizations Coordination Committee and President of the Literary Journalists Association Radheshyam Lekali, President of the Nepal Srashta Samaj Shriom Shrestha ‘Rodan’, and senior artist Madandas Shrestha highlighted the significance of the gathering and expressed their condolences. They emphasized that writers, poets and other creators should stand united in support of affected communities during times of crisis.

The event was organized by the Literary Organizations Coordination Committee, which brings together more than 100 organizations actively working in the fields of Nepali language, literature and the arts.

Participants lit lamps and candles in memory of those who lost their lives in the flood. They prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls and expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, as of 11 a.m. today, the death toll from the Bhote Koshi flood has reached 1,355. The authority said that 4,996 people from the flood-affected areas remain unaccounted for.
